It has been a busy week. We continued to reach out, door-to-door talking to people about municipal issues. We are hearing a consistent message about safe streets, speeding in residential areas and the need for traffic calming initiatives. We heard a good deal of this in the Highland Hills neighbourhood at the back of Dundas Valley Secondary and St. Bernadette Schools.
We continue to hear about the need for a better functioning council at Hamilton City Hall, and to maintain the character and public spaces of Dundas and Flamborough. The message of smart, targetted development in order to grow the tax base in Hamilton is resonating with people.
I also had the privilege of sitting down with independent journalist and Hamilton City Council “watchdog” Joe Coleman of The Public Record, whose mission is to interview EVERY candidate running in every ward in the city…and all of the mayoral candidates as well! What a commitment and I always enjoy chatting with Joey.
Also, we taped an all-candidates debate at the Cable 14 studios. There was a frank and animated exchange of views! The debates will be televised on Cable 14 (for local COGECO and Rogers subscribers) on the following dates and times:
Friday, September 14 at 12pm, Wednesday, September 19 at 10am, and Tuesday, September 25 at 9am. Additionally, the debate will initially be made available on line to Rogers and COGECO subscribers later this week, and then to the general public on October 19th (not sure why non-subscribers have to wait to so long to see it on-line and these concerns are being raised with Cable 14).
However, the big news remains our fundraising event, Saturday, September 22nd, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Dundas Museum and Archives, 139 Park Street West in Dundas. And we are pleased to present special guest, Juno Award winning recording artist Steve Strongman who will be playing an acoustic set!
Tickets are $50.00 each and are available either through the donation tab at the top of this page (just state in the comments section that you are attending the fundraiser) or contact the campaign at firstname.lastname@example.org (or click on the Contact link above).
Looking forward to seeing you in your neighbourhood, Dundas and Flamborough and looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd at the Dundas Museum and Archives.
